Sustainable Building with Concrete Blocks, Bricks & Pavers

When you think of concrete blocks and concrete bricks you don’t often associate this thought with sustainable building materials.

Island Block and Paving are the only Australian masonry manufacturer to produce carbon-neutral certified bricks, blocks, pavers and retaining wall systems and hold a Level A Global Green Tag certification – one of the world’s most robust, trusted and widely recognised eco-labels. Sustainable building is now achievable.

These sustainable bricks are offered in a standard brick size as well as bespoke long brick sizes. The variety ranges from crisp white bricks to a concrete reclaimed brick, easily mistaken for clay-recycled bricks. MD Brick is the exclusive supplier of Island Block and Paving in NSW. The unique engineered sand exposes the recycled glass aggregates, which can be seen differently depending on which finish you choose.

Bespoke Brick Dimensions and Flexibility

Island Block’s bespoke bricks are available in multiple dimensions, such as 390mm (L) x 110mm (W) x 60mm (H) for standard bricks and 310mm (L) x 110mm (W) x 60mm (H) for corner bricks.

Light Reflectance Values (LRV)

LRV measures the amount of light a surface reflects. Light colours like Pure White (LRV 69.4) reflect more light, minimising glare, while darker colours like Graphite (LRV 19.0) create understated designs. This is useful in urban environments to reduce glare for motorists and pedestrians.
